Hill Walks in Connemara and Donegal |
|
These are photographic records of some hill walks in Connemara and Donegal. The camera is a Canon A95. I still haven't got around to properly reading the instructions, hence any problems with the images are likely due to my shortcomings rather than the camera's. Unless otherwise stated, the images are reduced to 25% (each side / 4). If anyone thinks larger would be better, please shout; on the other hand that might bring my photographic ability under undue scrutiny. Connemara is superb walking territory. Unlike Donegal, few walks require a one or two mile slog through bog before you get onto a hill. Also, on the hills there is little or no deep heather or bracken. In addition to the two walks below, I mention other superb (and easyish) walks in close proximity to Leenane: Ben Gorm (Simms-Whilde no. 22); Devil's Mother (Simms-Whilde no. 18); Benchoona (Simms-Whilde no. 11). Good books. Paddy Dillon, Collins Rambler's Guide: Connemara, HarperCollins, 2001. David Herman, Hill Walkers Atlantic Ireland, Shanksmare Publications, 1999. Patrick Simms and Tony Whilde, Walk Guide: West of Ireland, 3rd ed., Gill and Macmillan, 1997. Here are some rather random web links on hillwalking. |
